The Farm held its very first sale in 1973 with 20 horses and between 1973 and 1988, a total of 14 sales took place with a total of 207 Thoroughbreds.

The National Premier Sale made its debut at the National Stud Farm in November 1992 after PMP assumed the management of the Farm.

Since then, 17 successful National Premier Sales have been held with progeny of illustrious and fashionable sires going through the ring.

Total sold - 873 horses between 1992 - 2009.

The 17th National Premier Sale was conducted by Magic Millions, the leading Australian - based thoroughbred auction house, on 20 November 2009 at the National Stud Farm, Malaysia.

This sale continued on from the 2007 'All Malaysian-bred' catalogue and proved to be even more successful; with all 43 lots sold for RM2,266,000, averaging RM52,698 each, with a median of RM50,000 per lot. The average (RM52,698), median (RM50,000) and highest price per lot of RM230,000 were the highest ever recorded for the sale of Malaysian bred 2YO horses.
